The Prancing Pony

Whither do you go weary traveler? Why not lodge at The Prancing Pony?

That’s what I am feeling, some outlandishness to mesh with my optimism. Aren’t we all looking out the window, hoping Gandalf comes rushing from the bushes, bellowing something about running to some offbeat border tavern? Well, maybe a weathered old man smelling of pipe weed isn’t the best catalyst…

Never the less, a static imagination is even worse, tied down to strict rituals, routines and restrictions. Rather than awaiting the unlikely appearance of a wise wizard, try and pierce the veil by more accessible means. Smash the symbols with some panache, grab your coat, strap on your boots and wave goodbye.

Trails cycled:
  • G-Spot – An old school trail built by some enthusiastic locals. It’s basically a 5 minute sprint down a gloriously fun trail above Dalsig, Stellenbosch. It is a bit of a stand alone feature in the area, but you can link up your ride with the singles in Eden or the new cross country track built by Stellenbosch University above Coetzenburg. Definitely worthwhile if you are in the area as it’s free, good for a weekend when you factor in the trails around it and that Jonkershoek is right around the corner.
